This article from somewhere, give you a very good solution when your electronic devices like handphone, mobile, iPod, etc drop into water. You got to know, most of the time, warranty does not cover water damage, so what can you do?
To summary, here is the tips:
1) Remove the cover.
2) Take out the battery.
3) Put everything into a bowl of rice.
Rice can help to absorb the excess moisture. Let it dry for at least 24 hours. I would suggest you use the hair dryier to dry it further before you going to restart it. Do not try to charge the battery. No harm trying, since it is already a gone case.

Hey, this is so true. My mum recently dropped her hp into a drain & her friend told her this 'rice therapy'.....
and it worked like magic! I was really impressed.
